Cavan Creative presents: Orchestrating Tom
Hello folks...it's been a while.
I am very excited about something that's coming up next Month...the details are below.
About a year ago I was approached by David Marskell, CEO of The Museum in downtown Kitchener and asked if I would be interested in coming up with a musical event to coincide with the upcoming Tom Thomson exhibit. Of couse I said ...Absolutely...cause that's the kind of guy I am .
Initially I thought I would write a group of seven songs (couldn't resist) and put a band together to perform them but then I had another thought...OMG, 2 thoughts in one day....and that was to contact the 'powers that be' at the Faculty of Music at WLU (Laurier), this was last fall, and see if their composition students would be interested in taking on a project in which they would create new music inspired by the works of Tom Thomson. They loved the idea and on Saturday March 12th, 2011, nine young composers, all members of the Composers and Improvisers Association at Laurier, will be presenting their new works in an evening concert.
You can get more details by clicking on the poster above.
Love to see you there.
